Meredith “Meri” Isom Price, a longtime educator and beloved member of the Peters Township High School community, died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 56, after suffering injuries in a car collision in Portland, Oregon.
According to her family’s published obituary, Price was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a car collision on August 11 while visiting family in Portland. She spent nearly two weeks battling the injuries before passing away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Remembering Meredith Price
Born on April 27, 1970, in Portland, Meredith grew up in Oregon and graduated from Lake Oswego High School. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Oregon and a master’s degree in education from Lewis & Clark College.
Her career in education began in Los Angeles before she returned to Oregon to teach at Siuslaw High School. She subsequently taught in California and at her alma mater, Lake Oswego High School, before moving with her family to Minneapolis and later Pittsburgh.
Price ultimately spent 15 years teaching at Peters Township High School in Pennsylvania, where she primarily worked with seniors as an English teacher. Her family said education was central to her life, and she viewed teaching as an opportunity to help young people develop confidence, find their voices, and approach the world with empathy.
A Teacher Who Made a Difference
For Meredith, teaching extended well beyond academics. She cared deeply about her students and colleagues and continued to support former students long after they had graduated.
She also led the school’s Interact Club, helping students participate in community-service projects including blood drives, coat drives, and other charitable efforts. Her commitment to service continued with her family, including annual volunteer work at the City Mission during the Christmas season.
Outside the classroom, Meredith enjoyed hiking, camping, travel, sports, gardening, history, and spending time with her family and beloved huskies. She was also known for bringing people together, welcoming friends and family around her table, and forming lasting friendships wherever she lived.
Family Mourns Meredith Price
Meredith is survived by her husband, Kelly Price, their children Nicholas Price and Hannah Law-Price, her parents, sisters, extended family members, and her beloved dogs, Tahoe and Minnie.
Her family has asked that attention remain focused not on the circumstances of the collision but on the life Meredith lived and the many people she touched.
A celebration of Meredith’s life is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Canby, Oregon, with visitation and a rosary preceding the funeral service.
Meredith Price leaves behind a legacy as a teacher, mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and mentor. Her family says she spent her life helping others find their voices and encouraging people to lead with empathy—values that will continue through the students, colleagues, friends, and family members who remember her.
